I am siliconing the baffles in my 90 gallon sump tank I siliconed one side of the baffles now I can't get my hand or caulking gun in between the bubble remover baffles they are 2.5 inches apart. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or tricks they have done to get the silicone into hard to reach spots?

I don't silicon the inside edges of bubble traps. Just put in one piece of the trap at a time and silicon the exposed side.

I pushed the silicone really hard until it squeezed threw the other side, so far everything is holding up well.

I needed to go over mine twice, there was a very small leak in my last chamber.

I will dig up some photos but when I did my current 30G AGA sump with 1/4" acrylic baffles 9 years ago I did it like this.

I started by cutting three baffles to size in an over under over configuration. I then placed them in the tank in the proper locations with the center baffle raised off the bottom on some cardboard. I then used a straightedge and a Sharpie and marked each location on the outside of the tank.

Next I started with the center baffle, putting it in place and siliconing it on both sides. Next I ran a bead of silicone on the inside edge or the other Sharpie lines then seated the baffles in place and pushed them into the silicone. I then added the outside beads of silicone, let it all cure and placed it in service.

Its been running for 9 years and never leaked a drop of been a problem. Twice a year I drain the sump and shop vac the crud out and the baffles are as strong as the day I installed them. I had the same dilema and after thinking long and hard came up with this method on my own.

    Here you go:

Thanks for that I am going to water test them in a few minutes so if I have leaks ill be trying it that way. I already ripped the baffles out once i used silicone 2 instead of 1 and wanted to be safe rather than sorry
