Is it ok to keep a rubberband on a media bag in the tank? does it present a hazard? I lost my cloth tie to a bag so I rubberbanded it and wanted to make sure that wasn't a problem. Thanks in advance for the answer :)

I have had rubberbands in my tank for extended periods of time with no deaths, that is all i can claim as far as how safe they are. Do you have any zip ties? those are safe.

I actually rubber band nori to live rock so the fish can graze more naturally. They don't like the clip for some reason.

Safe. You can also use an elastic band to wrap the nori around pvc pipe.

I would think that a rubber band would outgas few noxious chemicals, especially if the band is not new from the store. I've used one for years to keep the grate on my pump intake tube.

I sure hope so because I just banded my toad stool to a rock! He's a finicky little guy.
