Six line wrasse

This is weird - I've never seen him (or her) do this before. The wrasse is going around the tank with the top fin up and kind of "dancing", almost bobbing around the rocks instead of darting. I don't think I've ever seen the top fin up before. Anybody know about this? It doesn't look to be distressed, almost like a dancing thing....

Yep, sounds like you watch too much TV. I've seen mine come out when it eats but stays tucked in when swimming thru rock.

 

mine swims all over he'll weave in and out of the rocks then to the top, I thinks he's doing laps.

 

ya same here. I also noticed it hunts diff at night it stalks alot more hides and pounces

 

Mine does that too. Most of the time darting around in and out of rocks, sometimes up and down in a strange "swimming all over the tank but not in rocks" kind of thing...

 

Well, mom, ours does figure-eights around the top 2 peaks in our aquascape almost daily. Sometimes swimming completely sideways. I think the top fin raising could be partially an aggressive/territorial thing, because when we first got him and someone's face would be right up against the glass looking at him, his top fin would pop up and he would "charge" the glass. He's weird...just let him do his fishy thing...

BTW she is OBSESSED with Dancing with the Stars. Ugh.

My mom is obsessed with dancing with the stars as well. Lol

Doesn't sound like anything to be concerned with to me. Just a fish being his weird self. :-D

 

Did you add any new fish lately or change the aquascape? If you did it could just be marking it's territory.
