Saw him swimming around about two hours ago. Walked by the tank and it caught my eye that the water looked a little hazy, like the sand was stirred up. Checked the filter sock and it was fine. Everything was fine until I looked in the back by the rocks that my Sixline was laying on the sand with some hermits eating away at it.

When I saw him earlier he wasn't swimming around in and out of the rocks like normally, he was just hovering inside the rocks. Then he swam out and kept trying to swim in a hole in the rock that was a dead end and just sat there.

I tested the water after I removed him:

    pH: 8.2
    Nitrite: 0
    Nitrate: 0
    Ammonia: 0

Do you think something in the tank killed it? That's why I'm thinking the water looked stirred up cause I think the Wrasse was struggling around trying to get away and stirred up the sand.

Haven't added any LR in. I've had him probably three days now. I looked at the body before I flushed it and it didn't have any visible wounds.

Connection between the dead Cleaner Shrimp and Hermit Crab?

i did not see the post about the cleaner shrimp and hermit, maybe its time to check your iodine levels, iodine is crucial to ALL inverts, but too much is deadly, i would make sure your params are in check.

No idea how long he was at the LFS. They had two and I asked him which one was in better condition so I got him. I'll get a test kit for Iodine tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys. That was my favorite fish watching him go in and out of the rocks.

maybe they caused him too much stress in bagging or shipping? i did notice that the sixline is one of the few fish not covered by the two week guarantee that most online sites have (its says "poor shipper" as the reason). maybe their supplier mishandled it.
