I am patiently planning for a 150 or 180 gal reef and i was wondering should i have the display tank water draining directly into a sump holding a skimmer or should i drain directly into the fuge and then send that water to the sump with the skimmer and return pump. Also i want a minimal amount of sand in the display tank so i was wondering plenum in the fuge or a DSB? Also what setup would be best to later include calc reactor. I plan on using however many giant rubbermaid bins it will take. All replies would be appreciated.
    thx

A 20 gallon refugium then have about 20 gallon per Hr perking through the fuge directly from the tank.. Then that 20 GPH goes directly to the sump near the main pump inlet back to the tank. I have noticed in the last two yrs or so refugiums are becoming very complicated :) Idiots are not prefiltering the water then skimming it then sending it to the fuge .. Not to mention some are using a 100 gallon fuge on a 55 gal. tank LOL or some ridiculous comparison like that.. Also in the fuge you want about 5 inches of media for the DSB. And a Ca. reactor will be far better then a Kalk reactor but at some point both will be needed I have to run both as I can't keep cal. levels up anylonger I also add some ca. additives every few weeks as a booster.

What do u think about the plenum in the fuge idea? Is that some nonsense or do u think it could be beneficial?
