    My skimmer went down for the count and I ran my tank skimmerless for more than 6 months before I came around to purchaser a replacement. No major issues, I did notice my corals not growing as quickly but no big deal.

    My 29g tank is skimmerless, I do have a healthy growth of calurpa though..you can see the bio-load in my signature....plus the CUC of course.

    If you have the appropriate amount of live rock, it is ok to go skimmerless for a long time.

    I agree with all the above- but I would add a cheap power head near the surface of the water level to help with o2. Reason I say this is that a skimmer also helps to oxegenate the tank as well as remove waste. Your tank is obviously used to better o2 levels due to the skimmer, as opposed w/o it- the power head will help maintain the o2.
