I just added the carbon this weekend that past. I was thinking the same thing.

Carbon sounds like a good idea. Also, have you confirmed your salinity with a calibrated refractometer? I think in a previous post, I mentioned doing various things such as using a different water source for the water change water, and different salt, bucket etc... If not you could just be adding to the issue. If you have done all this, equipment problems would seem more likely, although, without seeing it, it's tough to guess what it could be....

Have you talked to the guys at reef i-tech? I know they are local to you. It is totally abnormal for it still to be overflowing.something you could consider is raising the skimmer or lowering the water level in the sump. This may help curb the overflowing temporarily.

I placed it in new water I made and it worked perfect. My salinity is 1.025 and I matched that in the new bucket of water.

No I didn't call them. This problem happened before and I had something blocking the intake and that was the culprit. It is something in the water column.

After about 10 - 15 gallon mini water change the skimmer is back to normal. Lets see how long this will last. Thanks G, M, and everyone else who helped.

choke down your air, restrict the air getting into the pump/skimmer till it does not overflow.. whatever substance is causing the problem will stay in the foam tower until it floats to the top and eventually out.. if you look you probly have big bubbles mixed in with little bubbles.. when you choke the air, youll see the bubble size come down. when I painted the room (latex), it did this to me. eventually it all settled out.

The inhabitants are looking good and everything is back to normal. All the micro bubbles have diffused. Its almost like it never happened.
