This skimmer came with a tank I got. The only thing on it is a sticker that says "Made in Taiwan". Imagine that! Does anybody know what kind of skimmer this is?
    Thanks,
    Bob

Looks like a Coralife Superskimmer to me. How tall is it?

if it is a Coralife it is either really old or heavily modified, might be both.

Yup, my official guess is an old style coralife 65.

Yeah, I thought it might be a coralife cuz of the red dial. But it must be pretty old.
It's in a 110g fowlr. Do you think it'll do the trick, or do I need something better.
    Right now I have:

    1 24" Zebra eel
    1 4" Yellow tang
    3 Blue Damsels
    1 Green Chromi
    2 Chocoate Chip Stars
+/- 50 lbs of live rock
    3" sand bed

since its a 65 and in a 110 i say no you should get a bigger one. i have a coralife 125 and it works pretty good. when it was on my 90 it would pull two cups a week.

edit also octopus skimmers are suppose to be good

this place seems to have good prices on skimmer http://www.aquacave.com/ProteinSkimmers.aspx

Thanks for the quick responses and the info. I'll be looking in to a new skimmer. The octopus HOB looks pretty good, as I have very limited space behind my tank. Hindsight is everything. The tank ain't moving now!!

Look at the Deltec line also. Pretty pricey, but you're not going to find a better skimmer IMO. My personal rule of thumb is get a skimmer that is rated about twice your tank size if possible. Most of us here overstock our tanks and need all the help we can get.
