Skimmer keeps shutting off

I have the skimmer that came with my Solana cube tank. I've only had this tank set up for just over a month. In the past about 2 weeks ago, I noticed my skimmer wasn't working. I pulled the plug, waited a few seconds and after plugging it in it began working. When it happened the third time, I took it apart while doing a water change and cleaned out the pump and it worked fine.

Now, today I noticed it isn't working again. I don't have the time to pull it apart today. Should I just consider replacing it as I can't get a good adjustment on the collection container without having to use the lid on the tank as well.

Any opinions or suggestions would be helpful.
