are you getting good bubbles in teh skimmer body? if not you ahve an issue with the air intake.

Is your valve just above the pump open all the way? Those work the best with the top of the pump close to the top of the water a couple inches. The air inlet hole where the air tubing goes into the front of the pump can get clogged with mineral deposits an cause it to not produce foam. If it's new it may not make foam for a few days.

I run coral life on my tanks and have that problem frequently. Had to get replacement parts just after one year! your case might be that it just isnt broke in yet. After I got my replacement parts it took a while for it to start pulling out that green stuff we dont like.

Let me ask you this, what size tank and what is your bio-load? My skimmer refused to work properly until I had more than one fish in my tank(sig). Now it works great though.

YOu may have to adjust it...Are there micro bubbles in the skimmer? And what bioload do you have?(livestock) corals?

Skimmers will tend to pick up organics when the bioload starts to fill up...I got one for my 29g a few months back and i had a full reef at the time, it started working the next day.

And your skimmer is probebly passed the break in point also.
