Yeah looks like you have a seaclone skimmer. The valve... When it doesnt skim correctly I close it entirely and then slowly re open it a bit. i believe it was a quater of a turn per half hour or hour... if it is a sea clone, but Ive done it enough where I know where to move it before I start turning it so it doesnt take for ever lol.

one thing if it is a sea clone, the one tube running from the maxijet to the machine, I try to make sure thats clean and not clogged, I had an issue of mine not skimming and I cleaned cleared that tube and it worked fine after that.

Most definitely a seaclone... Imagine, I sleep with it being louder.. My tanks in my room.

I believe in the instructions with the seaclone, it said you may have to adjust it periodically. My seaclone picks up about a full cup a week. lol

I had gotten alot of my set up all together off of Craigslist, which the Skimmer came with, and There was never a hose from where the pump connects to the skimmer, It just connects right too it. So I dont know If it came with one, and the guy before me just took it off or what.

The one time it totally stopped doing stuff for me, I cleaned the filter sponge thing... not good Gave it a quick sqeeze under running water. cleaned the tube from the maxi to the machine, (once again just a quick rinse) and started the adjust ment cycle with the valve. Got it running back up to par in about 3 hours.
