    Nope no control of the pump either. This wasnt at all an issue in my previous tank and its the same exact skimmer. I dont get it...

    Just breaking in again. Try running it in a container of vinegar for a day or so, it will greatly reduce the time it takes to return to normal.
    Octopus skimmers are designed to run at a specific flow/air mixture, preset at the factory. Do NOT put any type of air bleeder valve at the end of the hose, as this will only greatly reduce performance and can cause other major issues, like potential flooding. Puffer Chick. ;) :p
