I was doing a water change last night and i noticed that the pump for my skimmer was making weird noises and basically going into convulsions. So i took it out and now my skimmer doesn't have a pump.

I plan on getting a new one this evening.

Would the tank be okay without a skimmer for a day or 2?

My fish and corals went without anything except a little flow in holding tanks while I did my change over. They were there five days.

yes a skimmer isn't necessary but it does make running the tank soooo much easier

My old Odd-a-sea HOB would sometimes surge..kinda convulsion like...I would just blow in the hose.. force an even flow thru it....it would calm down and go to normal function.
...and keep intake ports clear of course....new pumps are cheap enough...but ya might want to clean it good..pull the impeller..all that stuff and run it in a bucket and see if its ok..might make a good spare.
    just my 2 cents.
