I am trying to decide which skimmer to run on my 90 gal aga rr. I have the ETSS reef devil on my 80 and it works great but i also have a Octopuss rps2000 recirc skimmer. Which is better in your opinions and why? Or is there a better skimmer out i should just go with thats in the $3-400 range? I have seen a bubble master for a good deal... Any advice is greatly appreciated. I have read allot on these skimmers and others but still cant make up my mind. I want a skimmer i wont need to change if i decide to heavily stock.

    Thanks!!!

You can read the skimmer article in my sig for some clarification.

It's tough if you have those skimmers. If you want to run one run them. They do work. If I was to buy a skimmer I would not go those routes. I prefer needle wheel skimmers for their simplicity and low power use. If you really want to buy new... then there are a ton of skimmers out there for a a 90g.

Super Reef Octo with their Bubble Blaster pumps. Get anything with the NEW Sicce pumps. The old would have used a PSK 2500. Good pump but it can start backwards. The new one for your size would be a 660. So look for that. ATB 840 if you really want a good skimmer.

Also, I'm still curious what Warner Marine will be coming out with very soon. It is a space saver series and looks to be promising. Warner Marine puts out very well designed skimmers and they are a sponsor here.

Thanks for the info, i had a octopus nw150 that i just sold a couple days ago because i figured the recirc was better. Are the bubble masters pretty good? I will keep looking, i can always sell mine if i find a better deal.

SRO came out with a line of pumps... specifically built to be skimmer pumps. Every skimmer pump out there is a water pump converted to a needle wheel. So the Bubble Blaster is a good thing. It is made in China.... but is not a cheap Chinnese pump. It so far has very good quality and features. So they made a whole line of pumps for every imaginable range... from the 1000 up to the 8000. So that is really a good thing for a company to come out and do that and it has been pretty successful. Lots of people are already getting them and modding their skimmer with them. In fact the BB 2000 has found their way on to a lot of SWC skimmers to relplace the PSK 2500.

Sicce has since come out with two new skimmer pumps that do not have any backward start issues. They only had those issues because they were water pums converted to needle wheel pumps... that issue has been taken care of though and Sicce make very good quality pumps... so a skimmer with a new Sicce would be great.

The NW150 is pretty out dated and not very advanced. Bubble plates have proven their worth and any skimmer worth anything today will have them. but a crappy skimmer with a crappy bubble plate is not any better. Get a good name brand skimmer... SRO, SWC, ATB, WM, and you can't go wrong.
