    Ok,
I have a aquamedic Turboflotor Multi SL hang on protein skimmer.
I was wondering if I added an air pump to the line that draws in air for the pump, if the skimmer would work more efficiently?
I don't think my skimmer is doing a bad job, i was just wondering if adding an air pump to force air in instead of it just pulling air in, if it would increase performance.

I'm not too familiar with the design of that but I have the sea clone skimmer (which is horrible) and I did some of the modifications to it and it has worked better than what it was and one of the mods was taking an air line and drilling a hole through the lid on the waster collector cup and running the air line to the bottom w/ an air stone attached. Seemed to help quite a bit for that crappy skimmer lol

No, the pump that is on the skimmer would be more powerful than the air pump. So basically, it would actually restrict and lower the airflow to the skimmer.

I have actually tried this, and the result was that it turned the micro-bubbles into large bubbles--looked like boiling water. So I guess the answer is no.
