This is a good skimmer but it is a little skimpy on the capacity. It is fairly beastly though I bet you could find a better deal. Check CL

it looks pretty decent... thats a good price for that size too.

Personally, I am a reef octopus type of guy! I found a comparable octopus on ebay for 154 (new in box) after shipping... so check out some octos before you buy ;)

what about the coralife skimmers. they are lower in price similar to the one I posted. are they any good? which of the two is better? the one I post says its a mesh wheel vs needle wheel in the coralife. is either style better?

I havent heard good things about Coralife skimmers. I personally havent had one yet so I cant comment on them, but some people state that they like them. AquaC, Tunze, PM, Deltec, APC, Bubble King and Octopus are a few of the "well known" name brands. Some are very expensive so beware. I have seen the Bubble-Magus and it looks like the Bubble King(if I remember correctly) but I havent heard any reviews yet.

the price is right but sometimes you get what you pay for, also see if there is a mod for it online?

I believe tb aquatics (a sponsor here) stocks those skimmers, I have heard good things, but sorry no experience. Might be worth checking tb aquatics out.

I will take a look at the sponsor site then. right now anything has to be better than what I currently have. my current skimmer with a wood air stone mod makes great foam, but is dependent on the water level, one minute it is hardly doing anything and the next it is spitting water all over.
