on a little tank like a 10 or 16, a CPR bakpack sized skimmer will work fine, but a little loud. what did you have in mind for the skimmer on your 41g?

sarcasm is my middle name=) Seriously dude, sometimes, I have found in this hobby that I'll take someone's experience just as quickly as I will take "scientific data" It's just the way this hobby is.

Conclusive proof? Your eyes and nose! After you see and smell your first cup of skim mate, you will be convinced.

As far as skimmer pulling out food for the corals, since some use up nitrates as part of their food source, there is a possible way around it. I don't remember if it was Luna or Inwall using their skimmer on a photocycle to keep some of the nutrients in the tank for the corals to consume. I believe I read they run the skimmer during the day, but turn it off at night when the fuge light turns on? It sounds like a good theory to me anyway.
