I would like to use glass, just need to know exactly what heights I need for the baffles.

So you are saying even with the acrylic gouged up to add more surface area as well as groves for the silicone to fill, it will release at some point? I did use a fair amount of sealant for the joint and right this second, it is very stout. I guess I am confused because commercially available tanks also use silicone to seal overflow boxes and such. I will concede that silicone is not the best medium for attaching the two substances but in a tank, it is about the only option.

If it's your only option, use silicone and use it gratuitously. It's not designed to adhere to acrylic, but if you use enough it will work. As previously posted, it will create a dam. Plus, the baffles don't NEED to be 100% water tight, just enough to hold water volume and keep the levels. A pin drop per second isn't the end of the world. Give it a try and good luck my friend.

Trust me I have my fingers crossed. I, as well as others, would like another option but no one can tell me if there is one.

Get aquarium silicone, if you want it to adhere to glass and acrylic it works great and you dont have to use a ton of it. My sump has been set for years with a glass sump and acrylic baffles. If you use acrylic baffles be sure to get the proper thickness of acrylic, dont get thin baffles or it will flex. I would not use the GE silicone even though many do. The silicone I use was AGA silicone sold at many LFS's. It is more expensive but being that it is for aquariums I feel better.
