    LFS said to add this stuff to get my cycle going in 48hr's "smart start" ? should i add it will it do what it says ?

    I would stay away from anything like that. Just wait it out. You may try a peice of raw shrimp to help get things going.

    +1 on waiting for a natural cycle. You can add a piece of raw shrimp to feed the bacteria and help the colony grow faster, but additives like "smart start" don't seem to speed up the process very much. What WILL help speed up the process is using live rock or live sand from a pre-established tank.
