    stars are nocturnal, so you may not see him very often. I always try to place a little food like krill by my stars den to make sure it gets enough to eat!

    I would bet it is the red hermits killing things...esp if the snails tipped over and was stranded on their shell, it gave the hermits a perfect opportunity to eat them

    I was going to suggest the snails might be climbing the glass in search for food and falling off the top, but you say you have plenty of algae on the rocks.

    I hate righting snails so I always get the kind that can do it themselves.
