    idea . . . . . . . .
So a added a RODI 6 stage last month with a ATO, previously i just popped 2 x 4 litres of tap water (filtered) into the tank.

I have been away on business and business and havent done a water change in ages so last nioght i pulled 40 gallons out of the old tap filter and did the change, thats the water i tested this morning.............

I have some bags of frozen water in the freezer (prior to the rodi) that i use to cool the DT water when its hot here, so I defrosted some and tested it, the calcium is 450 in this water.......... I have also tested the water from my rodi unit direct and its almost unreadable, i beleive the top us each day and the corals in the tank have deleated the calcium to ZERO and thats what is killing the snails and killing the corals?
so, i will complete the calcium re fill and start dosing twice weekly and checking the calcium levels twice weekly until i can get it regulated.
Does ths sound like sense or am i clutching at straws ?

    You need to test Magnesium.

i am going to my local robbers shop to buy a test, I am sure thats on its knees too, the 6 stage RODI unit i have appears to be very thourough !

    Damn !

Should I dose with API BUFFER ? weekly to put back whats being stripped out ?

This all seems to make some sense now, I didnt even think about the RODI unit, after all, its GREAT to have your water clean ?

No magnesium test here, closest test is 8 hours away.
I am having one shipped, I leave for Egypt on Wednesday, so it will be here when I get back, calcium is now 460.

Corals have to started to "fill up" calcium appears a little high, but I am sure that's goimg to wane off as the rodi water comes in each day, I am going to do 1 cap essential elements 3 times per week and see what the params come in as.

i think that the 40 gallon change might have something to do with it, because snails are very sensitive to water changes, sometimes it could be the difference in water chemistry between your tank and the water you use to change.

40 out of 93 gallons is alot, and your real water volume might even be lesser than 93 gallons because of all the rock, so that would be my diagnosis.

Snails were dead before the water change, 40 gallons isn't a lot for me, it's the normal monthly change, would appear that things are starting to get straight now
