    Hi All,

Can someone please tell me what the first snail is? I know the second one is a Trochus but when the guy at the LFS told me what the first one was I should have written it down.

The clip only goes for 1 minute if anyone can help.

    Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
First looks like a Cone Snail second a Turbo fluctuosa.

I did not watch the entire video so I only saw the foot of the second snail.

First one is Strombus (Conomurex) luhuanus. See the little notch where the eyestalk is extended? That's the "strombid notch," typical of all adult true conchs, and all their close relatives with a couple of exceptions (i.e., Terebellum snails have the same eyes and jumping behavior, but lack the notch). He's only looking for something edible on the sandbed.

Hard to say on the second one, since most turbinids and trochids look alike from a view of the bottom of the foot. Behavior is about the same, in any case.

Both snails are algae eaters and safe in your tank.

    Cheers,

    Don

Thanks Don, much happier knowing that I'm not about to be harpooned when fossicking around in my tank.

I do like the way it jumps!!
