    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had a Snowflake Moray eel in their reef tank. I have one that I raised as a baby, now he is about 8"long now and 3/4" in diameter. He is in my 75gal. reef tank and the funny thing is, he is in with Fire shrimp and Peppermint shrimp. He shows no interest in them at all. The ony thing is, I cant keep crabs because I think he eats them. I've tried Emeralds and Sally's but to no avail. Should the Moray go or stay?

IMO I would not have a Snowflake in a reef tank....but again, just my opinion. I have a Snowflake in a 75 FOWLR. He is about the size of yours and so far a model citizen. I added some very large hermits and have lost a few, but with a large Trigger and a Valentini Puffer in the tank also, he may not be the only culprit. I feel if they get hungry enough, they'll eat anything.

You have to keed that snow flake. eel's are the coolest. I have been wanting to get a small snow flake but i am scared he might jump out of my tank. I dont have a canopy on my 45 gal tank.

Hey, my eel in the 75gal. doesn't have a canopy covering the whole top either... the thing you need to do is make sure you have alot of live rock for him to hide and call his home...they will settle in and do fine. mine never jumped out...if it makes it through the first couple days in the tank you shouldn't have a problem with it jumping out. Go for it-they are cool especially when they eat. Feed them squid or clam. They love it

i have a snowflake in my 90 gal. reef tank. hes about 2 feet long. i had him as a baby. so he only eat the silver sides that i feed him. does not go after anything in the tank but what i feed him. all he does is sits under the rocks all day. i have no glass top so my tank is open too. just cant put crabs in the tank,he loves them like candy.. so if you like him i would keep him.

    must keep!

i recently had the same problem man. my snowflake is around 18" and i needed to get him out of my reef tank. it was a sad day calling lfs to see if they wanted my baby. but things turned up,my girlfriends mom said she could put him in her 75 gal reef tank as long as i come to feed him. ;D try to find a way to keep him man they are beautiful fish that require little care. just dont try to keep any crabs or lobsters in the tank. they freak for that stuff.

My sister's boyfriend had a mature Snowflake in his 33gal tank for almost a year. It was hand fed and would sometimes tolerate being stroked as well. Really cool animal. It never bothered the Lawnmower Blenny, or his gigantic hermit. They do tend to rearrange rock if they can, so make sure whatever is in your tank is secure.

Sadly it died overnight on christmas eve, still not sure why. :(
