    Hey Everyone,

I have a built in Softwater unit that produces softwater. Is it possible for me to use the Softwater then add the salt mix to make my own saltwater?

Any additional information would be great.

Not sure exactly what "softwater" is. But by the fact you have one, indicates a likely high mineral content already in water.

To really be safe you likely need a RO/DI unit to insure not feeding the tank with unwanted nasties.

If absolutly sure tapwater is mineral free, you can use it with a water conditioner. But do so with caution.

Probably not a good idea in your case.

    Just guessing. :-/

    Good Luck.

I would put my rodi in front of the the hookup to the water softener I tried it the other way and it clogged the filters faster and the reading coming out of the softner had a higher tds reading then without the softner.

I've a water softener as well. I was told to use the outside tap (which is not in the loop). I've not had any problems using outside tap. Of course I'm using a water conditioner as well.
