I don't know. I don't think it needs to tumble though. From what I've read a mesh sock is just fine.

    Are you a vodka doser?
I bought a medical dosing machine a while back to dose vodka but my algae scrubber got my params in order so I never set it up.

Still considering it though since it needs almost no maintenance once it's going and won't take up room in my sump area.

I started a couple weeks ago as my nitrates were really, really starting to annoy me, and all my skimmer was pulling was green water. tomorrow I start on week 3 and after I figure out what my ideal maintenance dosage is i'll be on the look out for a way to automate that. probably via slow drip somehow, its either gonna be a real pain figuring out and dialing in what I need added daily, or really easy yet expensive with a doser.

I'm also about to start dripping kalk to see if that helps maintain my PH a little better, and to help out with the skimming.

I got a medical dosing machine used from another reefer for $50. It has a big syringe capable of dosing as little as 1ml a day. Maybe check on those..
I've never used it I have a bad habit of buying things I think I may use in the future.. hehe

Do you think one of those basic kent aquadosers would be precise enough to add in around 2-3 ml / day? Cant beat $20 for one of them, I would just absolutely hate to see it fail some how and drop a fifth of very cheap vodka into my tank

Hmm I've never used one but Make sure it can't leak into the tank.. I 've read the reviews of those things and seems a lot of them leak.
