Is it true that fish will grow to the size of the tank.
Like if the tank is small will the fish stay small?

I don't think it works that way with marine fish.

i would think that yes it will keep fish "smaller" than they would be in a proper sized tank. but would continue to grow. but the downfall with this is the fish will probably have a shorter life span because the fish couldnt grow at its normal pace. . i could be totally wrong here , but in my case its an uneducated guess. just trying to help

The only fish I know of that this is true, is the gold fish family. The secrete a hormone into the water, the bigger they get and the more of them, the hormone levels rise. Once it hits a certain level they stop growing and breeding.
