I've never felt so bad for anyone in this hobby before. You do everything right, IMO and now this...frustrating I'm sure. I don't know what's wrong, nor can I tell you how to fix it. My only input is that it is either from a change in the salt manufacturer or have something to do with the new tank.

I do have a theory though, it's pretty clear that not all salt mixes are created equal, but could there be something with that salt that would cause Calcium to read at 420 (or whatever) but that Calcium, while there, is not bioavailable to the corals. Kind of like how not all vitamins have the same bioavailability as others? And not just with the calcium, but with any of the other trace minerals as well.

Gin this would be possible if the magnesium was too low--but you probably know this--by the way Sparky, how is everything doing today? Jean

Today I changed another 5 gallons. This takes the total to 25 gallons changed. I'm really hesitant to say whether or not the corals look better. I'm just not sure. In a couple of days I'll post a new set of pictures.

well sparky you seem to know what you are doing just a suggestion
refractometers can eaisly be off do you calibrate it often
at 26 in your bigger tank that will eveaporate more water more often you are probably getting sg swings unless you are using a properly work auto top off system
    i think personally 23 24 is safer
also the only way i have ever killed gsp is by putting it under 10 watts per gallon
    it melted away
i would run a poly filter and buy extra so in case of emergancies (there a must have)
1 other thing it seems wth mg 1300 and your dkh so high your ca would be higher
i waould love to see somebody else test your water
    god luck

No leathers or toadstools. I only have zoas, mushrooms, GSP, yellow polyps, hammer, frogspawn.

The euphilias are at a safe distance from the others. If there is any type of warfare going on, I would think it would have manifested itself sooner. :-/

I've been following this thread since the beginning. I wish I had some new useful info, but the only two things I can think of are trying new salt (you already are) and a grounding probe.

Well, I just changed another 5 gallons of water, bringing the total to 30 gallons, or a bit less than 1/3 total volume changed. As I mentioned, I'll keep changing 5 gallons per day until this is resolved, or until I've changed out 100% of the tank water.

I also purchased a ground probe through ebay, as no online vendors seem to be able to keep them in stock. I got a standard issue titanium probe unit.

Tomorrow I'll post new pics. Fingers crossed.
