The one on the left is a Vortech, and can't be aimed. The one on the right keeps the surface water moving. Without the right one blowing up, the surface gets a slick, or collection of garbage.

    edit. . .

It's been awhile, though. I've pointed the koralia down towards the front center of the tank, we'll see what it does. Heck, I'll try anything once.

Is it possible that hooking up a grounding probe could cause stray current?

I have a tank Im working on for some one else that soon as I plug anything in I get a little shock down in the sump where the Gorunding probe is. If I unplug everything and leave the grounding probe plugged in I can still feel a slight shock. Cant feel anything in the DT just in the sump.

If you unplug everything; leave the grounding probe plugged in, and feel the sensation of a shock in the sump, then something else in the house has a ground fault. The premises wiring's grounding conductor is doing its job of bringing that fault current to ground outside, and in this case, the ground probe (tapped off that path) is introducing that current into the salt water.

You have a short somewhere else in the house. The source could be anything.

An electrician could probably find it for you.
