I am setting up a ten gallon nano, i am gonna try to keep this forum updated through the whole set up.

    first the starting point
    [IMG]
next a old skimmer i had laying around, coralife 125 OVERSKIMMING LOL

this is gonna be a stony coral tank so i want the water to be nutrient deficient.
here it is being cleaned in a bath of vinegar and water
    [IMG]

i bought a couple of lexan panels to make a sump like area so livestock won't be sucked into the pump.
    here they are installed
    [IMG]

as you can see there is a L shaped thing of lexan sitting in the middle of the tank. that is a top to the equipment area, that doubles as a refugium spot that will be filled with cheato.
here it is with the top on,

all in all im quite proud of my work with the lexan.

as for lights i haven't decided so far, for now when its set up i shall use a 150 watt halide, but i plan to switch to t5s down the road.

for sand im going to use aragalive.

    ok update
    [IMG]
this is what the tank looks like to day.
the only inhabitants are a halloween hermit, scarlet hermit, and gsp.
a got the gsp from my dads tank it was being smothered by diatom algae, it was originally mine anyway.
as far as the rocks are concerned i had some lying around conviently in a vat of saltwater. so they are already cycled(actually have been for 2 years, going in and out of tanks).
for lighting i have a 175 halide i said i was gonna use

ok i know its been along time since a update, but i didnt do too much with out yall i promise.

first i removed the skimmer, I figured it wasn't needed since it was skimming sand(yes that was the only thing it was pulling out, no fish in there yet.) plus it had a hum that bothered me.

now i am using chaeto and grape caluerpa as the only filtration, i may put a hob on there.

for coral i only add 2 frags confiscated from my father tank, a frag of frog spawn, a frag of green and brown zoas. the funny thing is i gave him the frags he used to make those new frags years ago. so i guess you could say ive had those corals for 6 years.
funds are in short supply so it will be a while before i buy any sps frags.

but what i did purchase to day was a 4 stripe damsel, about 1/2 inch. it will be the first and last fish that goes in this tank. pictures coming soon
