Ok I upgraded my tank to a 40 gallon breeder and removed my sand, that came with some good and bad.

    The Good:
It's bigger so more stable and more room for corals and fish
    I can add a refugium
The breeders dimensions are much more attractive then that monstrosity called a bow front.
I can clean my front glass easily now since there is no curve.

    The bad:
My acros didn't like the change currently they are browned out.
My monti had a little tissue death but it seems to have stablelized.
My chalk bass went carpet surfing.

I know what your gonna say is "why do you need a refuguim when you levels are so low." Well mainly because I want some substrate stability and a place for pods, that said I do have a fine dusting of slow growing diatom algae hopefully that will go away to.

About the substrate stability thing, being that I will be in apartments for the next few years I will probably have to move the tank in that time. I didn't want to have the substrate disturbed every time I moved the tank and reset it up. So I figured I would go bare bottom(or with a dusting of sand) in the tank with sand only in the fuge. That way I would get the benefits of a sand bed in a easily carried container.

Also I irresponsibly got a scopas tang, which will have to go back after it gets bigger. Going to a bar with friends before hitting the lfs isn't the best idea.

    p.s. also I got a acan.

I think your tabby may need more flow?
