Thanks for all the advice on skimmers guys. I just wish there was something between 24.99 fission, and 139.99 remora. (that actually worked) Well, here's to more research!

Oh, How do you know good live rock when you see it?

Add my vote for the skimmer, and/or more rocks. Might try some sugar sized sand, I have fiji pink.

oceanic made a skimmer for their biocube 14g and 29g it does a decent job definately not top of the line. but its cheap and works. J&L aquatics has them, check on their website. or check oceanic website for detailed info.

I go for shape and crevaces when looking for LR, find a shape and/or size your looking for. something that has alot of holes for fish to hide in, better water flow through LR and it won't weigh as much so it won't cost as much if it's really porous. yeah coraline's nice and you defintely don't want algae.

Tangster, I use water bought from the local marine fish store. He uses RO/DI and has all his many tanks running on the same system. So he sells water out of that for $1/gallon. Then when I need to top off I get plain RO/DI from him for 40cents/ gallon. Its much easier than worring about mixing my own and getting the specific gravity right.

What other colors of coraline algae are there?
