5 bucks. EVERYTHING is 5 bucks lol.

The saying goes "I hope to God that when I die, my wife doesn't sell everything for what I told her I paid for it".

If my wife asks how much that costs I'll tell here. But I almost always point out the ones I got cheap or for free :)
And ya see this one here?... I can frag it and it will pay for itself. :)

For me, I used to be very miserly when it came to my tank. I wanted to cut corners as often as I could. Most my fish in my first 125 were $40 bucks or under. Fridimani dotty, clown, most my wrasse, hech even a Helfrichi firefish. Then I got into tangs, and the tangs i wanted came from LA, tomini and lavender were probably 60-70 ish with shipping, then I started getting into really cool rare fish. My black tang was my first expensive fish and my wife and I loved it, we were scared and when we first got it it almost died. It was $400 dollars. Any fish under that we don't bat an eye at. Then I got a zebra tang, its so cool, I don't think we'll bat an eye at anything south of four figures as far as fish goes.

My spending rule is I need to pay all the utilities, taxes, insurance, and what not.... then, if I have money I spend it on what we(I) want. Today I went to just LOOK at a baby clam and walked out with the clam, a yellow leather, and a bottle of tigger pods for my possum wrasse.

GET ONE! My lfs gets mostly ORA stuff in and the owner got me mine on tuesday. Its TINY but always out in QT and eating and loves people.

    Nice thread Mindy, (OFK)

I really don't have any rules, but don't spend much either that's why.

There is a very reasonably lfs in Milwaukee all the reefers love- Best Fish.
    Catchy name-I know.

I have never spent over $50 on any fish, and less on amy single coral.

I now frag to trade/give away coral. I have also been lucky enough to receive free coral from various reefers in my area.

Now tomorrow- is the Wisconsin Reef Society - Bus Trip down the road to Chicago area lfs'. Now if I get drunk enough, I just might see that coral or fish I 'have' to have!

"We" collect all change from pockets, cars, jackets and purses on a monthly basis, last month we pooled almost $300, just in lose change ?
"We" do dip into our "funds" if we need to, but never more than "match what we have".

Sometimes it's very hard to say "no" we are waiting for a leopard wrasse to arrive, that's this months addition to our big tank.

For coral it truly depends on if it is a "deal" or not. In general, ill stick with up to 40$ a frag (nice SPS) or 60-70$ a colony, though if there is a good deal, 100$ 5" aussie acro colony, I may have to get it.

Fish: I have one fish, I paid 10$. that being said, i'd pay up to 120$ for my Fijian arrowhead soapfish. :)

Same with mr bill, That aside I do have a hardtime justifying spending 350 on a .5" - 1" frag like the jawdropper acro from rr.
