Does anyone use a spray bar to help with the water circulation or have I been mislead?????? I have a 180 G 72X24X24, just starting to convert from All Fish to reef. have 80LBS LR and 2 inch sand bed, lots of dead corals. I have a little giant 1200 GPH and a sump pump used on the other side. The two spray bars are located at the top rear of tank pushing water across the surface and causing good circulation. I also have two Koralia #4's pushing under current at the rear near the bottom. The spray bars are quite noisey and i want to know if there is an equal alternative to maintain the same circulation.

    Welcome to 3Reef!!!

I've used spray bars before but I always had them near the bottom to circulate the water upwards (to send detritus to the filtration).

    Thanks for the welcome....

I have my tank set up in my bedroom and the spray bar combined with the little giant are quite noisey. I am hoping to find better ways to reduce the noise and keep the circulation.

I use them on a dedicated 1200 just for circulation. They do very well for me. Noise really isn't a problem, especially at night because they are in the next room.
    WELCOME!!!!!

    welcome to 3 reef fishr4fun

spray bars - if you mean the type that are on external cannister filters
they can and do get glogged up with coralline over a period of time, so require a lot of maintenance IME

if you mean those lock line type bars with several outlets - they are better as they are bigger and take that much longer to get grown over
