    Hello,

Do SPS have any toxins in them? I ask because I am very much so afraid of the toxins in corals, and would like to avoid them.

surely someone somewhere is allergic to them, but no, none that we deal with are toxic. FWIW I don't know of any, even ones we don't deal with, that are toxic.

Don't be afraid. Wash your hands. Palytoxin is the only thing you need to worry about, sps don't have that.I

I always use gloves and wash my hands afterwards. While I don't think there might be any specific toxin associated with SPS corals, I would still prefer to lean on the side of caution.

AFAIK, most corals have the capacity to either sting or release toxins. For those that sting, I would consider it safe to assume that even if the nematocyst can't penetrate your skin, the toxin can still be released on it. As already mentioned, I'd suggest wearing gloves while- or washing your hands thoroughly after- handling any coral (Gloves being the safest option).

+1 to bill and wearing glove EVERYTIME you put your hand in your tank to handle a coral.
