    there are always lots of ways to do things for sure :)
    the best way to start is to use the age old addage - KISS... keep it simple stupid

    A simple and effective design for a sump/fuge is the standard 3 compartment design. left side 12" compartment for overflow intake and skimmer. divide the rest of the space in half and use the center for your return pump and the left side for your fuge.
    my return pump is enough to power my skimmer as well as return line to the tank. some people also put various reactors in the return section of the sump as well.
