So I have a 140 gallon that im trying to decide what kind of fish I want to put in it. Its going to be fish only. It has 100 lbs of dry rock and 10 lbs of live rock in the sump. Going to have a large skimmer and do weekly or bi monthly water changes depending on the bioload.

    So far I have
    x4 green chromis
    x1 naso tang
    x2 Black and White Clowns

    Want
    x1 Blue spotted ray
    x1 Koran Angelfish

What other fish should I look into that arent run of the mill? Before you tell me that im going to have to many fish or bad mouth me just click the back button because I dont really want to hear it. I just want some ideas of what else I could possibly add.

This said for a fish only system of that size I would add a single lion fish and let him boss around the space

Why do you say no to the Ray? I have a very small amount of live rock with plenty of room for him to move around in the sand. My tank is 23 inches deep so I feel its a pretty good foot print. I know a lot of people say rays and sharks arent for home aquariums but im willing to take the risk.

I'm no ray expert but I would think aside the insufficient swimming room ( from what I know the enjoy wide tanks rather than long ones) feeding could become an issue. I suggest you do some thorough reading on rays.

Sorry phone cut me off... On rays if you plan to keep one. I don't think 140 gallons is nearly enough. I agree with you it's a shame as it really is a beautiful creature, but I think putting it in a system ( unless we are talking 600+ gallons) is a cruelty

I agree that a huge tank like that would be ideal but in reality they live in tiny tanks either at a LFS or Wholesaler. They can be difficult to feed and it takes time and patients to get them to eat but im willing to put in the work :) What else could I add fish wise? Give me some ideas other than the normal stuff you can get at a fish store.

The enclosures at a shop are only "momenteral" and or lethal, you can expect to keep a fiah like that happy and healthy in the long run in a system like yours. I reckon an eel could do well in your system ( as long as you move the other fish as they will quickly become lunch) but again this is not a novice animal as they are quite delicate. In terms of "peaceful" fish an here evolvd can point you further you h e some a m a z I n g wrasses that can be quite rare to get your hands on an who would do great in your system. Don't know if you've seen live aquaria.com yet but that's a good base start. Just cus it's on the site doesn't mean it's "main stream"
