I'm going to disagree with that. Livesaquaria, thatpetplace and quite a few others all say 50 gal min. Remember snowflake eels arent big swimmers like fish, they spend alot of time coiled and in the rock work. A 55 is fine.

What was you source saying such a large tank?

snowflake eels will get 3 feet long in a couple years, sure you could have him in there for like 6-8 months but after that hell be very destructive on everything. he will knock down your rocks even if they are silliconed in place and if you dont feed him a ton every day hell eat all your fish. the majority of websites at least says min tank size 75 gallon.

Again what websites? I won't say either one of us is right or wrong but linking the source definitely helps.

People with experience seem to think otherwise and a 55 is fine. Every fish truly deserves to be in the billion gallon ocean but there are acceptable aquarium limits.

Snowflake Eels are not normally free swimmers, only out when scavenging for food. I have never seen an eel pull apart secured or even well stacked rock work. Yes silicon or otherwise securing rock work should be recommened in any tank IMO regardless of occupants

you cant trust many sites, i mean how do you explain aquacon and some other sites say minimum tank size is 20 gallons? the same applies to 50 gallons. these things get over 3 feet long in most cases. its wrong to suggest something to someone when you know it wont work out well in their tank. i have a snowflake in a 55 gallon and it was a nightmare. in 3 weeks all my fish were gone and my rockscape didnt even exist anymore it was just random rocks on the sandbed.
