The behavior seems fairly obvious but I wanted to ask nonetheless.

I witnessed the only stomatella in my tank yesterday under full lighting no less, spewing out a whitish substance. It was just near my red Monti cap and it seemed stretched out toward the direction of flow. It spewed a whitish substance for about a minute and a half straight. Then retreated when it was finished. I've never seen this from it before. Was it sperm?eggs? What's the likelihood of offspring survival? Thanks

Agreed, this is a spawning event.

Also, the likelihood of them surviving is pretty high, as long as there's nothing that'll eat them. Stomatellas are the one snail you can expect to breed successfully in an aquarium without providing any special conditions.

oh yeah... you will have 40 of them in about 3 months! very successful at reproduction in the aquarium ;)
Probably one of the best cleaners you can get also!

If you don't see any babies after a couple of months, the next time you see a spawing event turn off your skimmer (if any) and your UV sterilizer (if any) for 24 hours.
