    I'm definitely with unclejed on this one :D

    If it's any type of predatory/venomous fish, I would hope that the LFS knew about it and had seen it before...

    Maybe it's a hybrid? It's a mutt! Wrasse/Scorpion fish mix...::)

    I hear ya. That's a bit of a liability if you ask me, what if someone got bit by it?

    Either way, I think it's very cool, and would like to get one.

    Here's the lightened pic. It does look to be a scorpaeniforme, although I spent the last hour slowwwwly sifting through the different genera on fishbase.org without finding a match. Seems like their server is seriously overloaded.

    It could just be a dying wrasse of sorts. Hence any "discoloration" and slowling moving along the bottom.

    Nice ID, I agree. Body is the same as well as the yellowish coloration around the eye.
    K+:cheesy:

    EDIT: It does however look as if the fish is dying :'(

    You know that wrasses bury themselves in the sand at night (and when frightened) and put on a layer of slime coat so nothing trys to eat at them. Maybe it had just woken up and was still a little slimy with sand stuck on it? Although my wrasse is usually clean and free of sand and slime when she wakes up and comes out of the sandbed.
