    I believe I have the real answer. I had emailed Wetwebmedia and was waiting for the gurus to get back with me. Bob Fenner states it is a Clinida; genisis Clinidae.

    Looks like Bob is on the right track. Most of the species in this family lack photos on fishbase.org, but here are a couple of similar ones. The one in this thread looks kind of like a composite of the two. The tail and pectoral fins are remarkably like the fish in the first link below, but the dorsal fin and head are more like the second:

    great work guys! Thanks a lot. To all that were concerned about the LFS's ambivalence towards the fish, worry not. This is the first time that they've ever seen it, must've hitchhiked at some point. The tank that its in is a coral only tank so the rock never moves and just corals come and go.
    the Clinida seems like a good bet but does anyone know if they mimic surrounding colors/shadows?
