Can someone answer this question? On the sides of my 30hex I have noticed these tiny shell-like structures. They are white in color and adhere quit well. There is no movement of them (that I have noticed). They are now sprouting up in my 90. What are these things?

    Hey saltyfish922,
Does it look like the stuff in one of the mystery pics in my Photo Gallery?

Yeah, I was but Mojo_jo_jo said it's feather dusters. And nobody has said it's anything different.

(sorry, I didn't know how to edit my first post)

I have a bunch of those jst under my filter return and then other places. They are definitely feather dusters. If you watch you should be able to see the feathers come out. I also have a bunch of tiny snails that are growing.

I'm just glad to see something growing in my tank. Although
I am still wondering if we should be trying to get them under control. It's like an infestation! Is this going to cause problems down the road or should we just let them do their thing?

I don't think they will cause you any problems. They are just filter feeders and I believe are stationary ( don't move about ) I had them all over the equipment in my sump and on the powerheads in my display tank.
