Stupid Goby

My diamond goby keeps trying to jump out. Somehow he managed to make it out of the 1/2 open space on the back of the tank. If it wasn't for me feeling bad tonight I wouldnt have been lying awake in bed to hear the "thud" on my carpet.

I go turn the lights on and there he is. I know this is normal, just wanted to post my frustration.

 

i have had 3 diamonds jump out.... wouldnt you be depressed if you went around eating everyone else s crap all day? sometimes the best of fish, go to the darkest of places, and there is just no other way out.... tis a terrible thing.

 

What size tank? What other fish? Did you just add him? It can take a while for them to adjust and they do try to jump when stressed. Usually, in a good environment, they will settle down though, once they establish Territory. If there is someone picking on them, or just not enough room to establish territory, then they may continue to try to jump. Also, they may try to jump at night, when spooked, but in the day, they should not be trying to jump, if it is a good environment for them.

 

Can you put egg-crate over the 1/2 inch opening?

Hes only been in a week & a half. I always hear him trying at night. Just never expected him to fit through such a tight space.

 

I might have to explore that option.
