I'm going to chalk this death up to amquel and my forgetting to turn the power heads upwards so to over agitate, and thus suffocating my clown. Shortly after turning the power heads the other fish returned to normality aside from the other clown who acted very depressed. I as well am depressed as I caused a living thing to die a Slow and likely painful death because of my own incompatence, I knew amquel required extra oxygenation of water after use but I didn't do it and my lil' nemo the female suffered (wifey named it not me)

What I'm finding stranger yet is that my corals except the jasmin polyp are acting like I poked them a bunch hopefuly thell bounce back soon the xenia I have didn't open at all today but it dosent help the hermits were crawling all over it and the new flow pattern put it in a higher flow swirl

Prime is a much better product for treating tap water than Aquamel in my opinion. it also has several other benefits in emergencies as it can detoxify Nitrites and ammonia. also, you salinity is low. it should be 1.026.

best of luck with the tank. toss an airstone in if you think it is asphyxiation.

yeah i need to bring the salinity up, and I've adjusted the power heads so things should be good. and I'll look in to prime.

+1 to the prime, its the only kind i use (i used RO/DI but i still use it because i i would rather be safe then sorry lol) and it never makes my skimmer go crazy, but it does smell a little bad lol. im sorry about your clown! i would be devestated if i lost either of mine. maybe you remaining clown would like a smaller buddy (plus then he gets to be the female in charge!)

no need to hijack a sink.. i have mine plumbed into my kitchen faucet tucked away under the sink. all i have to do is turn a valve and pull the hose out and into my bucket whenever i need to make water.

I have mine teed from the washing machine. Great place IMHO as you got the easy access to the washer drain right there also.

if ur worried about aeration, try adding an airstone in the back of the tank, i've seen this done in saltwater a few times and its almost always in freshwater systems, not sure if itll add microbubbles but i dont think it will and it'll definitely cure all your oxygen worries

I haven't used Amquel in years, but I don't ever remember it causing DO issues. Also, in my experience, you can drop as many air stones in there you want to, but salt water isn't going to absorb any significant amount of oxygen from the bubbles. I'm suspecting something in the tap water as mentioned earlier, or maybe your new water was way off on PH and salinity? Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your loss...I know the feeling.
