i'm w/ missionsix on this one. my bta started to look bad this morning so i chucked it for fear that he would poison the tank. was lucky enough to get him off the rock completely w/ a small brush leaving nothing behind.

still gonna keep my true perc, which I'm sure will be OK.

well you probably should of, it looks a bit bleached....
As your anemone becomes more healthy it will regain its lost zooanthelle and most likely turn a brownish tan color or a purple. The blue/white coloring usually isnt normal for an lta and all signs points to bleached. Time will tell, i would suggest keeping a photo diary of the anemone weekly.

slickg33 since you seem to be the expert on nem's would it be oka to add clown if a peterson shrimp is living in the nem or would the clowns chase the shrimp out?

I HIGHLY disagree. In fact, at the shop, I wouldn't let most of my customers buy them. I would only allow advanced aquarists to buy them. Anemones can potentially live for generations in the ocean. Then people who shouldn't have them, don't know how to take care of them, put them in their tank and kill them in less than a year. I can't tell you how many customers thought that clownfish or bangaii cardinals needed them or how many wanted to buy a species incompatible with their breed of clown or cardinal.

Possibly even worse. It's probably fully bleached and dyed. Dyed anemones and corals were a big problem many years ago. There was a revolt and the practice stopped. That horrible practice seems to be making a comeback.

By no means am I an expert, i just have a bit of experience. I dont think it is dyed, even though that is possible. Most likely just a bleached out purple lta or color variation.

As far as peterson shrimp goes and clowns, well that depends on the clown lol. Sometimes they get along sometimes they dont. I have clarkiis that are very territorial and they beat up anything that comes up near the nem. Ive tried to buy anemone crabs and the clowns harassed it to death.

It would probably be better to have the shrimp in the anemone before the clown introduction. Havent had first hand experience with the shrimp, just my 2 pennies.
