Has anyone ever used one of these? Obviously in conjunction with a hydrocarbonate reactor.

My friend has bought one and im going to set it up for him. I can honestly say tho, he has a carnivorous tank which produces a huge amount of waste. W/C alone can not keep up with the nitrate build up (off the wall), so he does need some sort of denitrafication. (a fuge or sump is out of the question).

Im just wondering what kind of result to expect and how quick to expect it. (tbh if it works for him i may give it a shoot on my reef)
I understand a slow flow is needed, and the company recommend no more then 20lph so im aiming to set up with a 10lph through flow.

Any form of opinoin is greatly appreciated.

Hell just add about 6 inch sand bed , You will get almost the same effect just watch out for Hydrogen sulfide poisoning it is a rare but not all that rare I'd never use one its old technology and last one I used was many many yrs ago and the smell of the gas is like rotten eggs . I'm sure some will have input on it ? But I know better and you could not give me one let alone sell me one ..

Yeh i am a little worried about a bad smell, but surely the hydrocarbonate would prevent that? I am looking forward to fitting it to his tank tbh. I really wanna see what difference it makes.

All the calcium reactor media will do is raise the Ph.

I see, so it will neutralize the acid, but not remove the smell. Maybe running it through a carbon reactor too???
