    Hrmm I didn't think about pods going going to frags that's a good idea. That will also simplify the design too. As for lighting not sure I have to ice cap 660 ballasts that I have been trying to get rid of along with a bunch of endcaps and reflectors...maybe get two 36in reflector and bulbs. Would also like to do another led build for it. That way I'll have the ability to adjust the lighting.

    Think two baffles(over under) will suffice? Or should I go with three?

    The other thing to consider is with a frag section being so close to the skimmer, you want to shade off the skimmer or you will have coralline algae and excess growth growing in your clear sections of your skimmer.

    Hrmm good point. Wouldn't a spiral compact florescent be a similar problem? Right I have one just pointed towards a little garbage can full of charting and it lights up the whole stand lol.

    Black acrylic would probably work pretty well

    You can get smoked glass, but is more expensive. Not sure how much more though. You can install light deflectors on the side of the fixture.
