Well im posting this here since my tank is (lack of better words) awesome once again from my noobish mistakes. I posted this on my local forums and decided to post it here to let you guys knwo my process.

Well I have a plan that I want to run by you guys. I was initally going to do a triple tank sump but alot of you said I have a very good chance of cracking the 10g tanks. So I decided that I need to do an overhaul of my whole tank and get my nitrates and algae under control.

Plan is to re-do the pluming, I didnt put a T on the bulkhead and a top with a hole drilled so it will flow smoothly. Well to say it drains slow but not to slow. I plan on also T it under the tank, 1 to drain into the fuge at a much slower rate and another to drain into the skimmer area at the normal flow rate. Im also going to clean all my pumps really well and also take my mangroves out (only have 5) and just have a cheato and dsb in the fuge on reverse light cycle. Im also going to get some regualr ol IO and doing 20g water changes every 2 days to get my nitrates down to at least 10, there peaking at over 180 right now but strangley the fish and corals are doing good.

Im doing this because my other tank is still in the works and prolly wont be completed until feb of next year.

2nd post updating the progress and solution

believe it or not I thought it was the food and the feeding. I feed my tang nori every other day, my clowns and goby a homemade blend thats throughly soaked in ro/di water every 3 days. I am leading to believe my fuge is really out of whack and elimanting the dsb in it and just going for a standard substarte in it of about an inch or so and slowing the water thru it to about 10gph or so and cheato only nothing else. Im at a loss with the nitrates, im goign to try this since ive been thinking of fixing my noobie mistake when I knew nothing but if my test still showing high then im going to get reefchief to test and then a new test kit.

    lol 3rd post

lol holy **** i found the source of my high [ Darroll has a potty mouth ] nitrates. Well since my dumb arse didnt realiz the whole siphon in the top of my drain tube, well I cut the teeth out of my overflow box which in turn lets the nori sheets float into my sump which in turn gets caught by my cheato and well you get the idea. The old food just sits there and decays. So now along with new sump setup im fixing my overflow box to not let this happen again. LMFAO (im a noobie), this will be back in check within the month hopefully. Im going to do the 20g water changes each day till I can get them to 20 at least and let the ecosystem in the tank help out. OMG IM A NOOB!

BTW I have a octopus nw-150 skimmer with the ghetto carbon filter and a viaaqua phos reactor. Im going to get the fuge clean and about maybe 1/4 inch of the nasty arse sand off the top and pretty much start fresh with the fuge. But the mangroves prolly still gonna go unless I can figure out how to place them effectivetly.
