What size would be recommended for a 75g set up. Damn I have so many stupid questions! I wish this was a little bit easier to figure out when going to a salt water set up.

I guess what I mean to say is what dimensions, I want to be able to put a skimmer in it along with a refurgium. If thats possible

Tank dims. are 48x18x20 and I will be placing the sump in the stand

I would go with 30 gallons.

I would say a 29 gallon would be a good choice depending on the height of your stand.

You wana leave room for all the extra equipment and regular maintenance.

For future reference, pictures make it a lot easier to advise someone

Thanks for the reply's, as for pictures I dont have the stand yet for it. I am trying to piece this thing together bit by bit.

I want to make sure I have all the proper equipment choices made before I build or purchase the said equipment

    Thats a good idea.

Its better to Make a list and narrow down your choices.

75 gallon is a great start.

Are you going to get a live pH meter or a controller?

Those things will save you an enormous amount of time and frustration.

with my 75 gallon theres a ten gallon sump with a ten gallon fuge with a skimmer, Ca reactor, kalwasser, and so on. so its possible. you can have 1000 gallons backing up a nano tank if you want. with more water there is a wider window for mistakes, with less water the parameters need to be perfect all the time. heres some pics

My 75 has a 29 gal sump and has plenty of room for all kinds of items. DIY cost only 80.

Is your skimmer inside the pump or externally mounted?
That looks like the route I may go. Cheaper then buying a ready made unit for sure.

I personally like the ratio of half of the DT. So in your case, I would get 30-35g sump. Or, if you want to go with a sump/refugium combo, get the same size tank. Luna

Not to sound stupid but do you mean same size tank as in another 75 gallon or 30-35 gallon size?
