Sump/Skimmer Flow

    Sorry if this is in the wrong category how does the flow through my sump affect my skimmer if at all.

    The flow through the sump has no effect on the skimmer.... but that does not mean conditions in your sump will not effect your skimmer.

    Why do you ask?

    was thinking i may be going thru sump to fast and if I slowed the flow down skimmer would skim more I don't have anything in bio chamber anymore gonna covert to fuge

    The skimmer will only process what it will. Say it's doing 300 gph. Does not really matter if you have 300...or 600... or 900 gph going through the sump. It's just that if you are doing say 600gph then you are just moving more water than you really need to for no reason.... and if you are doing say 200 gph then you basically turned your skimmer into a recirc so to speak. So just balance out supplying enough for it to process and not moving water for no reason.
