How are you going to clean down between the baffles between compartment one and two?

My mind has always said get the fuge compartment as deep as possible so your macro has more room to grow and you have more room for rock and such. Dont know if theres a reason against this though. Seems most manufactured fuges are built against my thinking.

Power outages. didnt think about that. If your overflow keeps going after a power outage theres gotta be somewhere for all that water to go. Your probably right to keep the water level low in there unless you dont mind replacing your floors.

I think so far it looks like a great design other than the possible cleaning nightmare between your baffles. Maybe if you just remove one of the baffles from between chamber one and two. Flow will still be going forward so I dont think you would have any sand backflowing.

Also if you remove that first baffle in compartment one the flow through the baffles into compartment two wont be sucking surface water down and thus the surface crap can stay in compartment one for your skimmer to pick up. Im really starting to like your design more and more.

cheers mike ur a star, and no dont wana replace the floors lol, that much to expensive than the whole setup, so u think i should remove the first baffle, to help with cleaning, and keep it at low volume for power outs. what would i clean baffles with?
